Scope of Works: To carry out the tarmac surfacing work around the new school in the formation of new playground areas, coach and car parking, access roads and a TARMAC MASTERTINT Buff coloured surface course as part of the featured entrance scheme. DSD are accredited, approved installers of Mastertint which is a TARMAC special product.
Work included: ironwork adjustments and road markings.
Work is progressing well and the first stage handover to the school was achieved recently. We continue to monitor costs with the main contractor and the work is aiming to be completed on time and within budget within a deadline programme period.

Work was completed to budget within a tight programme period with restrictive site working hours which required multiple interfacing and co-ordination with external utility and service supplier companies and the main contractor working within the main school site.

Scope of Works: To carry out the formation of a new entrance by re-arranging the existing entrance.
Work included: Traffic safety and management control, site clearance, cold milling, ironwork adjustments, drainage, concrete protection to existing ducted services, earthworks, imported material fill and compaction, new tarmac surfacing, kerbing, footway formation, signage, road markings, street lighting, topsoiling and seeding.
Work was completed to budget within a tight programme period with restrictive site working hours which required multiple interfacing and co-ordination with external utility and service supplier companies and the main contractor working within the main school site.

A595/U1134 278 Works and Access Road/Car Parking at Dobbies Garden Centre, Orton Grange near Carlisle for Adonis Construction Ltd.

Scope of Works: To carry out the cold milling and profile planning of the existing roads in the formation of a new roundabout and access road off the A595 to the new car park access along with the supply and laying of the new surfacing on the 278 work section to Dobbies Garden Centre Car Park and entrance road along with associated footways and splitter islands. Additional localised work involved the upgrading of several existing home driveways and local repairs on the existing U1134.
Work was completed to budget within a tight programme period with restrictive site working hours. It was also interfaced and co-ordinated with external utility and service supplier companies, the bulk excavation and earthworks contractor, traffic management and road marking gangs.

Contract Value: £432,000
Scope of Works: To carry out the surfacing work to a new industrial estate (below) adjacent to the new store site with the new HRA access road and car park with associated footways and HGV access points around the store itself.

Both contracts were completed on time and to budget within tight programme periods. The initial industrial estate scheme was finished after a delay of 3 months due to the severe winter weather of 2010. Due to the complex interfacing required by KIER, the co-ordination with Lothian and Borders Council, other sub-contractors and service suppliers meant a heavy commitment from all concerned. This was essential in completing the works on time for the store opening in time for Xmas 2012.

Cumbria County Council Carlisle Northern Development Route CNDR Section – The re-construction of Brunthill Road, Kingstown, Carlisle with Birse Civils Ltd.

Scope of Works: To carry out the re-construction of Brunthill Road in conjunction with the main Carlisle Northern Development Route works.
Work included: Traffic safety and management control, site clearance, cold milling, new ironwork and adjustments to existing, drainage, concrete protection to existing ducted services, excavation and earthworks, imported material fill and compaction, new thin course tarmac surfacing, kerbing, footway formation, tactile paving, signage, road markings, street lighting, topsoiling and seeding.
Work was completed to budget and within programme period with a live site with restrictive site working hours which required multiple interfacing and co-ordination with external utility and service supplier companies whilst working with the main contractor on the main scheme.

MAC Area 13 Phases 1 & 2 Improvement Works on the A595/B5435 Iron Bridge Junction near Egremont, Cumbria for Cumbria County Council with Amey Mouchel.

Contract period: Ph 1 – February to April 2009 and Ph 2 – January to March 2010

Scope of Works: As Main Contractor DSD carried out the upgrading and improvement of the existing A595 road with the introduction of a new right hand turn lane.
Works included: Site demolition, down-taking and clearance, bulk excavation & earthwork, kerbing, formation of new reinforced concrete roads and accesses, cycleway access tracks, new flood prevention drainage, ironwork, stock-proof fencing, new thin surface course system surfacing, signage to footways and carriageway and interfacing with other trades and utility companies.
Work completed to main contractor’s programmes and budgets.
